Strange and Dangerous Chemistry
AJ Lyle comes to Mat Scraps 2 with two previous matches in his pocket, but compared to Christian Taylor, with eight times the experience, he's still basically a raw recruit. AJ's previous matches have pitted him against fellow newbies, whereas Christian has earned a reputation by facing stiff opposition and holding his own against the likes of Jake Jenkins, Kid Karisma, Mike Martin, Gil Barrios and other BG bad boys noted for their toughness, competitiveness and success on the mat - and on the mattress! It's no surprise that AJ was keen on signing up to fight Christian. AJ's connection to wrestling is ever bit as visceral as Christian's. And here was somebody he could whet his horny wrestling skills on. If he beats somebody of Christian's standing - and sexiness, he will make his mark on BG East.
AJ figures the odds are in his favor. He's got size and power over the long, lean and more experienced Christian, whose one physical advantage is long and flexible limbs. It turns out that Christian is also one tough son of a bitch, with more strength than his slender build would imply, and AJ is canny and resourceful far beyond what his limited experience suggests. It's true, too, that something else is going on here, drawing these two wrestlers together, something in addition to wanting to notch up another win on their stats list, something of which perhaps even they were previously unaware. It doesn't take many minutes into this match for us to realize there's a fascinating subtextual chemistry at work between these two, and that it will be the key to the match's outcome.
AJ wastes no time with preliminaries or with any of the usual niceties and formalities. He charges Christian, takes him down hard and proceeds to hammer his pretty face into the mat. Taken totally by surprise, Christian nevertheless manages a clean reversal and clamps AJ into a vengeful and brutal Boston crab, using his long body to stretch and strain AJ's vertebrae, knee joints and muscle. AJ uses his thick, sturdy build to his advantage and powers out of the hold. Then he goes for a rear chokehold, hoping to make short work of his rangy, pretty faced opponent. AJ has the most to gain from a win here, and he knows it. Christian may not realize it yet, but Lyle has got him clearly in the crosshairs.
