Musclehead Jed's (Not So) Little Something Extra...
Jed has figured out that success at BGE goes beyond winning or losing. He hits the weights hard in his undersized, overstuffed trunks until his already impressive muscles are at maximum pump. As the scene shifts to the ring, the rationale for Jed's pre-match physique fixation becomes clear: Alexi has virtually defined the Fantasyman label single handily since his debut. As he stretches and flexes with doublefisted push ups in the same skimpy silver trunks he wore in his very first match, The Contract 6, it's impossible not to reflect on how much he's grown. Then, he was a lean, ripped, 19 year old prettyboy. But there was nothing pretty about the beating he suffered: stomps, slams, backbreakers and bodyblows building up to an ab bludgeoning and throat-crushing with a heavy wooden stool before being torture racked and sleeper strangled for a dangerously long minute after blacking out by a surging Brad Rochelle psychotically seeking to purge his own demons at having been the ass-end of an ass-kicking so many times. We never thought Alexi would wrestle again. But wrestle he did - again and again. He took his lumps--leg locked by Dick Rick, choked out by Jonny Firestorm, gut bashed into oblivion by Kid Vicious. But he came back time and again, hitting the weights, training harder, until his unprecedented three matches and three victories in a row on his own Who's Next. Four years later, he's 15 pounds more pumped and always gives at least as good as he gets.
Yet a chest to chest pose-off shows when it comes to sheer size, Jed's got the edge. No problem for our increasingly cocky Russian import: "It's not about size," Alexi informs, "it's about proportion," and he's certain with his 5 inch height advantage he's surely stronger to boot. An arm wrestling challenge over the turnbuckles gives credence to Alexi's position. Jed insists his elbow slipped. But when a re-up in the middle of the ring leads to a sudden sneak attack, two things become clear: 1) babyfaced bodybuilder Jed may look innocent, but he's developing a serious appetite for destruction; and 2) this is no friendly fight, it's a grudge match neither man wants to lose! Stomps to the back enhance the ill-gotten edge, but Alexi rallies with a fist to the gut. Two collar 'n elbow tests of strength are a wash as each 200+ pounder forces the other into a corner. Jed ends it with a boot to the gut, slingshot into the corner and a running shoulder block. Alexi retaliates with a running tackle into a beetleback full nelson bodyscissors combo. Headlock takeovers and the two trade bodyscissors. Jed sinks in a rear choke. Alexi bridges instinctively, arching his back. A simple move that shows not only how much he's learned but also the impossible-to-miss contours of his prominent, bouncing package! What a main event!
