No Love Lost
"Just finished my workout," Nathan Sargent says as he shows off his bicep peak. "I mean, look at this." It's a hard firm muscle fresh from a pump. Nathan asks what Jason Anders did for himself today. "I got my yoga in. Got zen. Relaxed," responds Anders. There's nothing better than clearing your mind if you are about to deal with someone who hasn't been anything but a pain in the ass. "Flexibility helps your muscle strength," Jason explains. "If you were SMART enough to hold a pose for 10 minutes, then you would get it."
Nathan challenges Jason, recognizing that the yogi might be more agile, but still betting on his strength and endurance to "go all day," and relishing bending and twisting his over-confident light opponent. Nathan quickly throws Jason around, just to show he doesn't need anything but raw power to kick his ass. A quick knee stuns Nathan, but a takedown and a few strong gut punches make Jason squirm and decide to take a short break. Nathan is enjoying himself, happy to be putting this agile but hapless yogi in his place.
An invitation for a free shot lets Nathan know agility might not be Anders's only skill. Trapped, rolled, and stripped, Nathan's tune starts to change from 'come at me' to "I still got out of that." Jason keeps Nathan off guard with surprising shit-talk to throw the burly man off his game. But the strategy can backfire as it fuels Nathan's ire while throwing vicious gut punches to Anders' abs.
The challenge turns into a brawl. Nathan goes on to really test Anders' flexibility, alternating stretches with butt slaps and even more gut-punching. Jason folds Nathan's leg to the point where he's able to repeatedly bash the brawny man's head against his own knee. "No worry about a traumatic brain injury. It's already happened." But just like Ash DeLeon learned the hard way, Jason discovers why gut punching is Nathan's weapon of choice. Each time Nathan gets the lead, he goes right to laying down those rock-hard punches like missiles hitting their target.
You can tell Jason is shaken, but he's determined not to show it. His stoic quips have been some of his best attacks yet. "You haven't impressed me yet once..." says Nathan. Questioning his endurance, Jasons asks, "Then why are you out of breath?" This bout continues with ever-increasing roughhousing, proof of the disdain they feel for each other: their backs hyperextended, limbs almost popping out of their sockets and gut-punching so hard the smacks can be heard across the lake. This grudge is so intense it even gets blood spilled on the mat.
There might be only two submissions in this match, but they don't define shit. If Jason and Nathan were expecting to settle this once in for all, they'll be disappointed only to find more hatred as the match reaches its climax. One of them just won't stop until the other is unable to fight back. A long, strenuous hold closes this chapter, but given the circumstances, it is inevitable they'll have to meet again.
