Snake vs Snake
Flash LaCash and Ace Aarons have roots deep in indie wrestling. So do many of BG East's wrestlers, past and present. In fact, no underground wrestling promotion has drawn as many legit wrestlers â?? pro or collegiate â?? as BGE has. Flash and Ace are two of our best heels. Ace is the smooth talker, a subtle and deceptive devil who can't be trusted as far as you can throw him. He charms opponents into letting down their defenses, then attacks at full force, wrapping himself around them till they can hardly breathe. Flash has a blunter style. He literally does throw his opponents, by the ears at least once in this match, flinging Ace from one ring corner to the opposite. He is apt to fly into a rage over nothing, and Ace's chief strategy is to stoke Flash's temper piping hot, in hopes that the self-proclaimed "King Cobra" will wear himself down and become an easier conquest.
In Last Man Standing 4 these merciless heels go after each other, striking at one another with lightning-fast lunges and slow, suffocating squeezes. As big and forceful as he is, Flash mainly relishes a lingering "death by a thousand cuts" approach to disabling, then destroying his opponent. Early in the match he tortures Ace's fingers and wrists before pinning the forearm to the small of the back. Then, his knee holding the arm in place, he grabs Ace's chin in both hands and slowly pulls the head back. These long and excruciating holds tear a man's body and soul. When Ace stammers out a submission, Flash gets Ace "tied all the fuck up," growling, "You'll quit when you're down for the ten."
However, both these wrestlers got straight A's in villainy school. Ace's style favors sneakiness over shows of brute force or slow-burn sadism. "If a man can't breathe, he can't fight," he philosophizes at one point. He coils around an opponent, cutting off his air supply. But Ace's bag of tricks is broader than just that. In this match, he fish-hooks Flash's nostrils and yanks at his opponent's hair. These are bitch tactics or at best the sort of unscientific attacks one expects to see in a drunken back-alley brawl. Ace employs them with a certain panache, though. He may hit below the belt, but he's always a class act. And when his opponent has the upper hand, Ace plays at being fair and square, hand extended in a show of sportsmanship, but it's only a ruse to lower his opponent's guard. Once that happens, Ace goes in for the kill.
Going at somebody "like a boy killing snakes" is an old Southernism, seldom heard today even in the American South. It means doing something with excessive, crazed energy. That's this fight: a boisterous and fast-paced collision of two exceptionally well-trained and hot-tempered wrestlers. Each man works hard to outdo the other. "Fuck you!" Ace cries out at one point. "Is that all you got?" Flash answers, "Oh, I got plenty!"
