Fresh-faced Cameron is not superstitious -- more's the pity. Some wrestlers have an unnatural dread of their 13th match'wrestlers have been injured in their 13th match; champions have lost their belts to a nobody on a 13th defense. The Boss warned young Cameron about the jinx of the thirteenth match, but he would have none of it. 'Join the 21st century, Boss,' he scoffed with a shake of his head, 'I don't believe in any of that old superstitious stuff from those old carny days.' Ah, the famous last words of the skeptic! And to further show his lack of fear'he insisted on getting in the ring for his 'lucky 13th' with the notorious Rico Rave. The very same Rico Rave who gave Johnny Firestorm his worst beating, who almost put Donnie Drake out of wrestling entirely, who humbled cocky Caleb Brand over and over again before getting bored and ending the match once and for all.
'Who the fuck is Cameron Matthews?' was Rico's response to the booking. A quick perusal of the website and Cameron's previous matches didn't exactly overawe the brutal thug. He actually yawned as he signed the dotted line for the match. 'Just another one of these young punks for me to bruise up,' he shrugged. Rico likes to beat people up'he gets off on it. Wrestling in a ring is just a way to do what he enjoys and get paid for it! But underestimating the thug is a mistake'he might take a shortcut here and there to notch a win, but he knows his way around the ring. And when he arrives at the ring to see young Cameron warming up, he can't hide his contempt for his young foe. 'You gotta be kidding me,' he laughs as he flexes his muscles, 'you don't have a chance!'
And Rico starts his usual games -- refusing to start the match when Cameron's ready, getting under the kid's skin until he can catch him off guard...
