"Who's the jobber, now?"
Reid Hawthorne and Santiago Sandoval are a little awestruck when they climb into the ring together. Both of them are making their BG East debut. There's almost a reverence about the way they tug on the ropes and tentatively circle the ring for the first time. Both devoted BG East fans have shown up with a ton of underground wrestling experience, but this is making it to the big leagues, and it shows in their sober wonder as they check out the ring and each other.
"There are a lot of cheaters around here," Reid points out, clearly having done his homework and wanting to put his fellow rookie on notice. The finger he uses to poke his opponent in the chest lingers, as Santiago assures Reid that he always plays fair. "No dirty moves? Just good clean wrestling," Reid demands, beginning to knead his opponent's hot pecs uninvited. Santiago reassures him that he respects the rules of the ring, while indulging his hungry opponent's inability to stop groping his meaty pecs and astonishingly carved eight-pack abs. "How about you," Santiago interrupts Reid's reverie to ask. "Yeah, I don't cheat," Reid assures him.
The friendly opening handshake takes a decidedly unsportsmanlike turn when Santiago refuses to let go, jerking Reid's long, lean body into an ambush full nelson. The rock-hard newbie delights in spinning his rival until Reid's long legs get tangled in the ropes and Santiago concedes to the clean break. "I knew it," Reid whines petulantly as he heads for the door. "You're a fucking cheater! All the wrestlers around here are!"
"Oh, you're not leaving yet," handsome Santiago says with a hungry sneer, grabbing his opponent's curly locks and dragging him back onto the ring apron. Reid counters by choking his rival across the ropes and catapulting the stunned Santiago into the center of the ring. "All right," Reid snarls, climbing back into the ring in pursuit. "You convinced me. I'm not leaving!"
It turns out both ambitious rookies showed up with a healthy disregard for fair play. Santiago nearly gets his handsome face ripped off with Reid's fingers clawing his nostrils in a vicious camel clutch. When Santiago steals the match momentum, he hoists Reid into a torture rack and delights in slamming his rival's smart mouth repeatedly into the turnbuckles. Neither impressive young rookie is shy about taking shortcuts, bending the rules, and delivering low blows.
Although they both showed up ready to play hard and fast with the rules, one stunning newbie can't keep up with the race to deliver the lowest blow. The ignominy of being laid bare as the newest contender for top jobber lands hard on one of these ambitious rookies. Trunks stripped, forced to flex, and made to worship his power-drunk rival, there's no question who showed up today destined to be pounded into a tasty new jobber. Defeated and dragged out of the ring by his hair, it's hard to tell if he's terrified or titillated by the winner's promise, "Don't worry, jobber. I'll take good care of you!"
