Another Grudge Match, or, Tempus Fugit as Tempers Flare
Patrick has always looked like everybody's first crush. The quiet intensity of his gaze is something you can feel inside your chest and then up on your shoulders like a couple of strong hands. He is every man's dream brother, the guy you want in your corner if you ever find yourself in a fight. At BG East, he has pitted himself against pretty boys and tough guys, matching dimples and brawn with the best of them. Now a veteran with over ten years of experience in his back pocket, perhaps Donovan's biggest challenge is to prove whether he still has the fire in his belly. All we have to say to that is, based on our first look at him under the gazebo, restlessly awaiting the arrival of his challenger, he's still somebody we'd like in our corner and nobody we'd ever want to cross.
If BG East has a perfect match for Patrick, it is Steven Thomas. Practically Patrick's mirror image, hairy-chested Steven has fought some of the same guys as Patrick, and the two even fought shoulder to shoulder against Jonny Firestorm and Brad Rochelle in The Contract 9, resulting in an embarrassing loss for Donovan (he hates that), which he now aims to take out of Thomas's hide. This showdown picks up the day after that fateful match. "Oh look who showed up," Donovan sneers sarcastically as Thomas steps onto the mat. "I was sure you'd chicken out." Steven gives a few inches in height, but makes up for it with a hard, solid build. The challenge is not all the way off Donovan's tongue before Thomas is right up there in his face. These dudes have business to settle, man to man, and 27 seconds into it we know that this contest is going to be nasty ... and tasty.
Donovan has the upper hand at first, forcing Steven's left arm painfully high up his shoulder blades, painful enough even when Patrick's right fist isn't cracking the poor guy's ribcage! Looking at the boy-next-door pictures of Donovan, we sometimes forget how aggressive he is, especially when pissed off: "You fucked things up yesterday, pal," he snarls. Right when Patrick smarts off about "What ya gonna do about it?" Steven seizes the moment, muscles his way on top and deals out some payback! If you like two volatile, aggressive men going at it for real, holding nothing back, you'll love what happens next!
