As the scene unfolds, Cole Cassidy and Damon Clark somberly enter the black mat room, expressionless as death masks, not saying a word. They peel the leather off their broad, heavy shoulders, leaving their faded jeans on, for now, tight against their thighs, their blank eyes staring holes into the air between them. They've known of each other for years. they've seen and studied the other's matches. They exchanged challenges, threats and counter-threats. They've each met and mostly beaten the same guys, on camera and off. Whether it happened at BGE or in private, this match-up was inevitable.
They advance and lock arms, almost as if fate has so decreed and they have no will of their own. Big, hairy-chested Clark drags Cassidy down to the mat, a grunting weight, his left arm clasped to the back of the neck while Cole's right hand claws the side of his face, his left straining to wrench himself free. The smooth and cagey heel succeeds, wriggles loose, and grips Clark's waist between his legs, and then squeezes, arching his hips up for added pressure. Damon lets loose a startled groan. Cassidy has got him tight - and it's a hold from which few men have ever broken free.
Clark can exhaust a heel, absorbing the worst the bad guy has to offer, and then strike back, repaying tit for tat. At one point, when Cassidy contemptuously slaps his hands against Damon's hairy chest, Clark levels his gaze at Cole and drawls scornfully, "Oh no. Oh fuck no." The belligerence triggers Cassidy to lunge at him, and the two men collide, chest slapping to chest, and the ruckus is raised once again.
