Enthusiasm or Treachery?
For all his natural talent and impressive physique, D has to face the fact that he's up against a more seasoned fighter - not just seasoned but virtually undefeated and indestructible at BG East! There's no avoiding the fact that Barzini will land his punches and each blow is going to be potentially lethal. Bulldog gives the kid a merciless working over in the corner, stretching the rookie's long sturdy torso up and out and driving his fist like a jackhammer to the boy's splendid abs. Fuller takes his punishment like a man, even though each stroke sends flashes of agony through every nerve in his body.
Presented with a break, Fuller seizes the moment, snapping his burly opponent into the opposite turnbuckle, and Barzini's hard round belly gets treated to the rookie's full weight as Fuller shoots his rock-solid shoulder into the veteran's vulnerable midsection again and again. As we hoped, Fuller proves himself a quick learner and a tough and promising competitor. But is that enough against a man who is, by all accounts, a force of nature, a ring veteran who has notched up success after success in the BG East ring?
"Age and treachery will beat youth and enthusiasm every time," so goes the wisdom of the times. But history is full of exceptions. The outcome of this match will determine the young man's future and the veteran's legacy. With two competitors like these, either one of two scenarios can play out. On one hand, everybody likes to root for the underdog. The idea that Fuller can make his name at BG East on the strength of one decisive victory over a fighter of Barzini's caliber is enticing. If any rookie has the attributes to make such an upset possible, it is D Fuller. A victory here could make the kid an instant legend.
On the other hand, there are the well-known pleasures of seeing a tried-and-true muscle daddy beat the living crap out of a handsome mannish boy! Do we really want to see this particular underdog come out on top, when there's so much to enjoy in watching him sweat, suffer, and submit to the iron will of a master heel like Barzini? The outcome of this match is one we find particularly gratifying, delicious even! If you like old-style, old school indy and tv wrestling from days gone by, this match is one hot thrilling throwback!
