The PH Factor, or, Help! I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up!
"I know you can pose for pictures, but I don't know if you can wrestle." Hudson is derisive, insulting. He sizes up the newcomer as a jobber. Paul can make short work of this guy, and he knows it. What he can't figure out is what possesses a looker like Chip to set himself up for the ass kicking he's about to receive. In less than a minute, Paul's legs are scissoring Chip's ribs and his arms lock up the rookie's head. Circulation cut, Chip's skin prickles as if tingling with static electricity - and his speedo bulges at the crotch, even as the rafters begin to look like they're swirling. "I told you, pretty boy, this ain't the sport for you." Hudson's voice is now free of contempt. He's just stating plain fact to somebody who should have known better than to put himself in this situation. "You should have ran with the cameraman." Prescient advice, it would soon turn out to be!
Chip flexes some muscle, as if to suggest that, with gunz like these, how can he possibly not be grappler material? Unimpressed, especially since he was just now half a second from knocking the prettyboy's lights out, Hudson says flatly, "Bring it." With practically no resistance, Hudson runs Chip through a regimen of classic wrestling holds, just to give the handsome Asian a taste of what the receiving end of "tough" feels like. When at last Chip submits, he gasps, "It hurts," surprised, like it's just now occurring to him what he's signed on for. "Wrestling is not a pretty boy's sport." Hudson feels he's wasting his time with this guy, but if he wants The Boss's check - and future bookings - he's got to see this through. And if he's gonna to see it through, he might as well take the opportunity to school the jobber in certain realities ... such as good looks, a pretty smile, big muscle and nice ass count for squat on the mats unless you've got some fight in you.
If Chip is too dumb to run away with the cameraman when he had the chance, perhaps Hudson can at least persuade him not to bring his pretty plump ass onto a wrestling mat again - and especially not to challenge a seasoned pro to a fight. After the second fall, though, Chip shows some signs of manning up. Perhaps the kid is learning something, after all. But it's too little too late, and Hudson wrings a third submission out the guy. Still, Chip isn't saying, "I quit." So, tired of playing good cop with this loser, Hudson switches to full-on mean mode. He pulls hair, seriously mussing up Chip's hundred-dollar do. He locks the muscle boy into a high-risk full nelson, and from there into a sleeper, finishing up on the damage he had earlier only hinted at. If what Chip Chang wants is Paul Hudson's concentrated attention in all its intensity, he gets it now. Man, does he get it! And how!
