Baiting the Beast, Take Down Challenge
Few opening shots are more captivating than the sight of Manny Mendez â?? 245 pounds of pure muscle â?? flexing before our eyes. Manny has spent years building himself into an undeniable force. Broad-shouldered and thick through the chest, hips, and thighs, his physique carries that unmistakable bodybuilder symmetry, exuding natural confidence. He is not just strong; he is built with purpose. Even his look reinforces this: simple, fully packed blue trunks, and a bit of body hair, adding to his grounded, physical presence, that is less of a showpiece and more like raw, controlled power.
Mason Brooks interrupts the glorious flex-and-stretch session, informing an unconvinced Manny that he is, in fact, his scheduled opponent. After sizing the blond hunk up from head to toe, Mendez feels the size difference alone would make the match a waste of time â?? not to mention a safety hazard. But there is an uneasy, suspicious vibe to Mason's adamant approach. It seems vet Brooks knows Mendez is out of his league, but still wants a chance to take on the big man. Where Manny's confidence is rooted in power and discipline, Mason's comes from cleverness and Machiavellian instincts. Manny doesn't need tricks; he is all about strength, pressure, and force. Yet Mason is almost the opposite in every way, and he leans into it. Masterful at mind games, even his golden trunks seemed like a deliberate choice that matched his personality: attention-seeking, sly, with just a touch of narcissism.
After a lengthy verbal back-and-forth, Mason slowly gets under the Latin behemoth's skin until it becomes clear all along that Brooks wasn't going to meet Manny on Manny's terms. Rebutting all of Manny's warnings, the blond hunk finally gets him to agree to seemingly fairer ground: "If I can take you down to the mat once, then you've got to tell everyone that I won." It sounds almost absurd, like a technicality disguised as a stipulation, but Mason sells it with complete confidence, and at that point, it seems Mendez would agreed to anything just to shut him up.
Once Mason steps into the ring, however, he quickly starts to regret the whole strategy. Sliding through the big man's legs, Mason tries to drop him by pulling them, only to find he will need much more to take down Mendez's muscle mass. And for a long, long stretch, the action looks exactly as expected. Manny takes full command, imposing himself, controlling the pace, and reminding Mason why size and strength matter. Brooks absorbs it, possibly being subjected to the most punishment we have ever seen him take yet.
Still, that doesn't deter Brooks from trying to ragebait the beast into a shocking loss. Maybe that's because Mason's confidence isn't entirely misplaced, and Manny's dominance, for all its certainty, isn't immune to disruption. As the punishment keeps coming, one of these is bound to falter, and even if it is for a few seconds, it might be just enough to decide the match. But what happens after that moment decides who the real winner is.
At this point, a single skull claw may be enough to finish Mason off in the corner as he bends back over the ropes
