The Caped Centerpiece, or, Betrayal Begets Betrayal
If anyone has a worse win-loss record at BGEast than Cameron Matthews, it would have to be the much-vaunted (by himself, of course) 'Centerpiece', Jobe Zander. Jobe has been beaten down, bulge-bashed and humiliated in match after match - and in his typical self-deluded and self-aggrandizing way, he always claims to be the guiltless victim of the low blows and cheap dirty tricks of his nefarious foes. Forget the fact that he prominently projects his 'Centerpiece' as a major and easy target! However to give him some credit, those foes have included low-blow dirty trick specialists like Jonny Firestorm and Cole Cassidy - but Jobe sure seems to bring a lot of it on himself. As Cassidy said, "I wanted to beat the crap out of him just to make him shut his damned mouth." Jobe subscribes to the old "if I say it maybe that will make it true" mentality, and runs his mouth almost nonstop from the moment he walks into the arena until someone shuts it for him! And Jobe's not exactly above delivering a few cheap shots and low blows himself.
Cameron is waiting for the 'Centerpiece' at the ring, and sure enough, the moment Jobe walks through the door with his trademark cape draped around his shoulders, he starts a running commentary not only on his own greatness but mocking of Cameron's skill as a wrestler - as well as his manhood. In the locker room, in the showers, on line in chat rooms and groups, both had cast aspersions on the other, debating who was the bigger jobber! Both these guys are masters of behind the scenes drama, intrigue and subterfuge!
Once the bell is rung, Jobe takes early convincing control of the match, including some stiff knee and elbow drops. Cameron manages to launch an impressive high-flying drop kick that staggers Jobe back, but Jobe takes the old low-blow shortcut to cut Cameron's comeback short. The ease with which he is dominating Cameron soon leads to some overconfidence (imagine that - Jobe overconfident? shocking!) and Cameron drops him yet again. Cameron, himself prone to a surfeit of cockiness, straddles Jobe's chest and seductively strips down out of his squarecut trunks to a reveal a sheer, perfectly form-fitting baby blue Aussie Bum speedo! If this were a competition for the Most Flamboyant Wrestler Award, at this point in the match this contest would have to be judged a toss-up!
