"Feels good to be back," Chace murmurs to himself, as his warmup session highlights his hairy, sharply carved physique, now broader and tougher than ever before. His packed bright orange gear stands out like a flare against the softened afternoon light. Chace stretches with the quiet confidence of a man knowing his days of being the slim jobber we first met are long gone. After slowly building himself up, and even stepping away from wrestling for a while, Chace had become someone much different: bigger, stronger, and capable of steamrolling anyone who steps in front of him.
When footsteps approach from the gazebo's entrance, Chace sighs even before he sees who it is.
Turns out it is Austin Cooper, who crosses into the shaded mats with the presence that comes from old stardom. Smooth-skinned, thicker and heavier through the chest and shoulders, he filled out his bright pink gear with the certainty of a man who's owned every mat he touched. Austin had been a crowd favorite with a mixed record made of brilliant highs and satisfyingly (for us, that is) frustrating lows. A couple of years away from the competitive scene have aged him in some ways but sharpened him in others.
"Look who's back," says Chace with just a hint of disdain as he finally acknowledges his foe. An immediate flex-off is a comparison of two contrasting looks but quite similar backstories. Both are ready to collide in this clash that indeed feels like it was years in the making. From a quick, hard lockup Chace quickly humbles "all-timer" Austin, who ends up trapped in between Chace's powerful thighs. Cooper quickly reverses and throws LaChance's body in between his own huge thighs, foreshadowing what happens throughout the next 25 minutes: an intense 'squeeze' fest, strewn with some nasty stretches, and sound strikes, where enormous pressure will be brought to bear on both of these men's bodies.
At times, it almost seems like these two longtime BG East stars are teasing each other, stretching their limbs past their limits or firmly crushing their throats, only to then release the holds just to prove how much damage they could do... But when things get competitively serious, much more than their egos get crushed. As the submissions start to roll in, and the trash-talking gets more personal, head-popping and rib-grinding squeezes are shared, with quick and sneaky tactics giving one of these men an edge.
But introducing cheating to a fight only makes it fair! With a dose of instant karma, a wrestler powers forward, using the big equalizer to bring the leading man down, all in a bid to even things up. Between crushing bearhugs and vise-like headscissors, the match moves into demolition territory. Who breaks free and who finally falls is for you to find out, but we can tell for sure this bulge-matching delight of a fight will be hard to top for a long time!
