Destined to Demolish!?
On paper, the match-up between Jaxx O'Doul and Greg Garrett wasn't supposed to be a "demolition" at all. True, Jaxx has decisively more ring experience as well as an undeniable advantage in strength, but they've both taken at least their fair share of brutal beatings and come back that much wiser. Corn-fed, Mid-Westerner Greg has had a tough time against some of the most brutal bad boys in the BG East stable, but even against arguably the best and brightest (or is that darkest?) Greg has displayed calm, cool confidence and a clear command of wrestling technique and strategy that has earned him plenty of respect. He is already an accomplished wrestler with indy credentials that position him to make a serious run at knocking down the competition. Big, powerful Jaxx is nothing if not serious competition, having demonstrated that win or lose, he can make just about anybody hurt (a lot!). Absolutely everyone at BG East possesses a healthy respect and wary eye out for what this powerful kid can do.
Early on in this match, the changing tide of momentum between them looks a lot more competitive than any match appearing on a usual "Demolition". Jaxx, wearing his signature trunks accentuating the most impressive bulge on his bulging body, has the muscle mass and power to throw his pale opponent around the ring seemingly at will. But he quickly learns what many BG East wrestlers have learned before him: you might be able to put handsome Greg down, but keeping him there is an entirely different matter. Greg just keeps battling his way back. He makes his powerhouse opponent suffer long and loudly in a headscissors/armbar combination that catches Jaxx completely by surprise. When big bruiser makes a desperate grab for the ring ropes and calls for a clean break, Greg reluctantly releases his catch. "All right, fine!" he spits with contempt. "You gotta use that? Fine!"
However, it's not long before Greg takes a heaping helping of brutal bashing from his big, bruiser opponent. He may be decisively quicker than Jaxx, at times running circles around the muscle stud, but the moment that Jaxx wraps those big guns around his head, all of that lightening fast momentum comes to a screeching halt. Cranking hard on Greg's neck in a side headlock on the mat, the powerful stud digs into his MMA arsenal, suddenly landing a series of sharp jabs squarely into handsome Greg's stunned face. Then just as suddenly, out of the blue, Greg rolls his opponent's big, beefy body up in a tight, small package and slaps down a decisive 3-count pin to take the first fall! When Jaxx rolls to his feet, the look of shock on his face says it all. Like so many opponents before him, Greg's speed, resilience, and knack for swallowing a boatload of punishment drive home that point that this is not the cakewalk Jaxx was looking forward to!
