When Muscle Meets the Meat Grinder
Tatum Riggs made his debut years ago against none other than Brad Barnes, and likely would have made mincemeat of the bodybuilding babyface if Tatum's relative inexperience and Brad's years in the ring hadn't tipped the scales towards just south of a balanced match. Even so, Riggs took Barnes to his limits and beyond, and the battered hunk was anything but keen on a rematch when Riggs reappeared, now with several years of underground wrestling experience to back up the 240 pounds of bone-crushing muscle packed onto his towering frame. Now Braden Charron has stepped up to give Riggs the showdown he seeks.
Braden has been a fixture of the BG East roster for years. He may not have a spotless record, but match after hard-fought match against the toughest and strongest the roster can offer has hammered some serious wrestling skill into his competition-honed musculature. There's little he can't handle, and nothing that rattles him. That is, perhaps, until today. No one would think to call a burly side of beef like Braden a small fry, but Riggs positively dwarfs his seasoned and sculpted opponent. Still, Braden doesn't appear too concerned, more interested in his favorite pastime, himself. Maybe Charron's trying to psych his opponent out with an impressive pre-match display as he flexes each and every one of his hard muscles in turn, but Riggs is as serious as they come, a no-nonsense fighter focused on only one goal, destruction.
Tatum doesn't spare Braden a single word as he shoves him across the ring, putting a stop to his impromptu bodybuilder routine, and moves in to lock up with the burly hunk. Braden is used to being able to match most men in terms of raw strength, so when his own advance is stopped dead in its tracks by Tatum's simple but rock-solid tie-up, he starts to sense trouble. Before Braden can devise an exit strategy, Riggs reverses his push, pulling Charron in close and driving the hard point of his knee deep into Braden's chiseled abs. A single heavy forearm to Braden's bent back sends him face-first to the mat, only for Riggs to drag him back up to his feet and hurl him into the corner.
Braden's already reeling just seconds into the match, but he focuses and fires back, sending hard fists into Tatum's tight core when the bigger man closes in on the corner. But all those punches seem to do is bounce harmlessly off. Riggs barely misses a beat, pausing only long enough to glance down, then smirk back at a worried-looking Braden trapped between him and the corner. Tatum clobbers the cowed Charron, forearms rocking not just Braden's body but the ropes around the ring as he's slammed back into the turnbuckles again and again. Riggs grabs hold of the battered wrestler and hurls him out of the corner and into the ropes, Tatum's massive arm coming around hard with a clothesline aimed to take Braden's head off. Dropped hard to the mat and seeing stars, Charron doesn't even feel the towering predator stalking up behind him until it's too late.
Tatum's claws sink deep into Braden's bulging trap muscles, the downed wrestler's head is thrown back and mouth is hanging open in an agonized scream. The seconds drag on as Tatum digs in deeper and Braden can barely lift his arms as the giant shreds his hard-earned muscle. But Charron isn't about to throw in the towel, and painfully struggles to his feet and fires an elbow to the massive man's core with all his strength. It's just barely enough to send Riggs back a step, but Braden is free and moves fast, bounces off the ropes, and slams his own heavyweight clothesline to his opponent's chest. Braden's whole body bounces off Tatum's as the hulking specimen hardly budges an inch.
An unbelieving Braden comes off the ropes again and slams into Riggs one more time... to no effect. Panting, he staggers backwards away from his tormentor's advance, and throws himself at Riggs one last time, finally managing to topple the behemoth. A winded Braden pours on the pressure, lifting the super-sized man off the mat and sending him back down with a bodyslam. Trying to wear Riggs down with Boston crab, Tatum only has to flex his quads to send Braden tumbling into the ropes. But Charron knows all too well how bad things will get for him if he can't keep Riggs down, and throws himself back on the big guy. Tatum suddenly finding himself bent back in a torturous camel clutch. The huge wrestler's high tolerance for pain drags the hold out so long Braden almost looks ready to give up, sweat beading on his face and meaty pecs as he holds on tight to the hope for a submission.
Finally, Braden hears those two words, "I give!" and releases Riggs to collapse to the mat. The stunned fighter can't believe he's given up the first fall of the match, and barely resists as he's lifted into a boastful Braden's bearhug. But Riggs is far from done, and shows it as he simply grabs hold of Braden's thickly muscled arms and wrenches them off his body, already finding his second wind. Tatum Riggs didn't come back to BG intending to leave any doubt in anyone's mind just what he's capable of, and the thought of losing out to another resident muscleboy is all the motivation he needs to kick things into high gear.
The match becomes increasingly brutal as Riggs does everything in his considerable power to put Braden away, while Braden is forced to dig ever deeper just to keep getting back up. Charron is clotheslined repeatedly until you wonder how his neck is still attached. His spine is assaulted in over-the-knee backbreakers and a variety of bone-crunching blows as 240 pounds of aggressive muscle constantly jackhammers Tatum's boots into Braden's lower back, leaving the once-proud man crawling on the mat and screaming in agony. This match isn't done yet, but you have to wonder just how much more Braden's body can hope to take. Chokes, claws, gut shots, limb destruction, and torture racks pile up and take their toll on each man. In the end, one wrestler finds himself fading in a rib-snapping bearhug, and this time, his opponent isn't interested in a submission. This fight is ending with a knockout as one man is beaten unconscious and serves as a reminder that sometimes, bigger is indeed better.
