Giants at War
Momentarily, a pair of rippling abs fills the screen. The camera backs up to reveal two new BGE hires, Vinny in battleship-gray trunks and Tony in royal blue. Vinny is a bit bigger, his massive physique topped with a boyishly winsome face. He innocently suggests that the two musclemen lie bellies-to-the-mat for an arm wrestling challenge. Fingers clasped, giant forearms tremble under stress. Vinny taunts Tony, asking, "That all you got?" But it's a tight struggle. Ultimately, Vinny succeeds in pushing Tony's wrist to the mat. Tony vows not to lose a second round, and he doesn't. In the decisive third round, Vinny huffs and puffs like a bull, and the forearms teeter right then left then right again. Ultimately, Vinny's biceps rally and he wins the third round.
Vinny faces the Arena's mirror and strikes massive upper body poses, his traps flaring. Tony, still sore, sneaks up behind, attaching a rear naked choke, pulling Vinny away from the ropes. Vinny reaches back, his fingers clamping onto Tony's ears. His chest swells, and he heaves Tony face-first to the mat. He squats on the small of Tony's back and repays the choke. Tony's elbow slings back, knocking Vinny off. The wrestlers' moves are slow and stiff, staggering at times, weighed down by thunderheads of heavy muscle. These men are modern Titans, revving up for battle. Fingers entwined above their heads, the giants grunt and growl. Vinny forces Tony to his knees. He squats behind him, applies a headlock, and rolls back onto the mat.
Hercules and Antaeus, Thor and Elli, Kong and Godzilla, Frankenstein and Wolfman â?? Vigo and Angeles match these primitive legends in slow, grinding but epic struggle, like bulldozers on a collision course. For the next ten minutes, the advantage splits between Vinny and Tony in one crushing assault after another. The muscles shine and teeth are bared as the men grapple for dominance and the ultimate victory. Belly-to-belly bear hugs, closed-fist punches, full nelsons, scissor holds, chokes, turnbuckle crucifixions, headlocks â?? these brawny alphas engage in a prolonged clinch fight. Moves are repeated like rams butting heads. Force, not form or discipline, is at the center of the contest. The exhalations are audible twenty feet away. Vinny and Tony are determined to outmuscle (if not outwit) each other. This is pure brute strength, driven by ego and willpower.
Angeles dominates the match's final minutes. He toys with Vigo, immobilizing him in preparation for a grand and possibly ruinous finisher. Against the turnbuckles, he grabs Vinny from behind with a corner chinlock, tightening the hold into all-out strangulation. With minutes remaining, Vinny rolls forward, breaking Tony's grip. He grabs the hair on the back of Tony's head, squats behind him, and strangles him with one arm while flexing with the other. He pulls Tony to his feet and applies a sleeperhold. Tony squirms like a worm on a fishhook. He grunts and jerks convulsively. Can he break free? Or is he doomed? If the finisher to this match doesn't get you hard, you have not been paying attention. Rough around the edges, Tony and Vinny, brimming with sex appeal, should make unique contributions to the BG East roster and house style.
