World War III
The enmity between Germany and Russia goes back hundreds of years. It is an international animus taught to children in their cradles. It encompasses many wars, and more recently, the brutal division of Germany into two disparate halves by the Soviet refusal to withdraw from the East; turning Berlin into an armed camp symbolized by the Berlin Wall. That wall has come down, but the enmity remains, so when German mat master Karl Volk decided to test his mettle in the BG arena, it was no surprise that he wanted the company's Russian star, sexy Alexi, as his first match. "Russians don't know how to fight unless they have superior numbers," Karl scoffed in his thick accent, "but one on one? Lose, lose, lose!" And Karl is enough to give anyone pause at first sight, with his thick body and bleached out Mohawk, he looks like a warrior out of a frightening Teutonic nightmare.
Despite his less-than-stellar record, Alexi is no slouch. He may have yet to win his first ring-match, but he's done well the mats, even defeating three consecutive opponents in the backyard 'Who's Next?' video. No easy feat to beat three men in a row! Always cocky and self-sure despite the taunts from the other wrestlers (things like "doormat" and "No-win Alexi"), the big strong Russian is certain he can handle the big German, unless The Boss pulls one of the tricks Alexi is certain are the real cause behind his lagging win-loss record. Alexi has been working hard at the gym, building himself up and training harder on the mats and in the ring; working with anyone who's got the time and desire to get in some practice. "I didn't know people still wore hair like that," he laughed when he saw the German's photo.
