Randy "Hawk" Rodman walked into The Boss's office, looking like he had just graduated from a New England finishing school for young heels. He wore black tights and boots the props department had lent him and the close-cropped hair of a genuine tough customer, not to mention those hawk-like eyes, which seemed to spell "trouble." The look was right, maybe too right, maybe too right-off-the-shelf right. "You got experience?" The Boss huffed, barely restraining a sneer. The guy looked like he had a crooked enough heart, but The Boss didn't get to be The Boss by having faith in appearances. Rodman looked him in the eyes and flat out lied: "I've been kicking ass for two years now. Thought it might be time to get some cash for it." Good line, thought The Boss, rubbing his knuckle against his chin, but his instincts told him the guy was bluffing. "Okay then." The Boss stretched back in his chair resting his Olga Berluti loafers on the desk. "So you don't mind if we put you to the test first?" "Not at all," the slim roughneck replied. "All I ask is that you prepare to have your socks knocked off." The Boss smiled, rather grimly: "I think I have the guy for your first BG East match. Jonny Firestorm." If the name registered with Rodman, his facial expression gave nothing away. "Only bit of advice I have is that you try to back Firestorm into a corner and slap his face. Slap it good and hard. You do that, and you're in." "No problem," replied Hawk, smirking, then grabbing his leather jacket and striding out of the office, oblivious to the sinister chuckling emanating from the office behind him.
Smooth skin and All-American looks in sky-blue trunks and spit-cleaned white boots, Jonny Firestorm looks nothing like the stereotypical heel, except maybe for the badass tattoos bracing his biceps and spanning his traps. But looks, we know, are deceiving, and for years now Firestorm has reinvented himself, under The Boss's watchful eyes, as the company's premium hooker - the guy we turn to when some serious 'testing' is called for. He gives Hawk the once-over as the new guy slips between the ropes, cocky and sure of himself. Firestorm pegs him immediately as a wet-behind-the-ears wrestling-academy grad, who made a name for himself pinning skinny tenth-graders in a six-week course taught by some no-name ex-jobber out of his garage. Jonny feels a certain surge of glee, but he doesn't let on. "New heel, right?" he asks, without amusement. The new guy struts as if Jonny should have heard of him by now. Silently, Jonny tells himself, "Time for this boy to get a real schooling," but out loud he just says, "All right, Slick. Let's go."
