These guys fight each other like they have a grudge to work out. If there's a back-story here, we don't know about it. What seems more likely is that these are two tough customers, always ready to inflict pain, who took an instant dislike to each other when BG East brought them together. The first two rounds are well fought, showing off the guys' conventional wrestling skillsâ??one gets the other to tap out in round one, and the other gets a three-count pin in the second. But if you want to see mean, just wait for what's next. At this point they're not looking for just a tapout or a pinfall; they want to inflict real bodily harm, the sort of thing they call, without irony, "a little fun."
Check out the hair on these guys. Bullet Bernard's dark waves hit his shoulders, in true hipster style, and Bobby Burns' stringy hair hits his chest. There's too much long hair flying for either of these heels to resist taking advantage of it. One thing you can expect, then, given the nasty character of these men, is that hair pulling and lots of it will feature prominently. They use their opponent's hair to pull him in, slam him into the turnbuckle, pull him into a facebreaker, and snapmare him to the mat. At one point, Bernard yells, "I'll rip that hair right off," and he damn well nearly does.
But hair ripping is just one part of these bad boys' bag of tricks. Incompatible as oil and water, Burns and Bernard are intent on putting the other man in his place. They hold nothing back, and if any body part gets more punishment than the hair, it's the neck. Forget the rules of fair wrestling, these guys aim for the jugular. They choke, they twist, they clutch, they squeeze. They want to break each other's neck clean in two. They go all out to inflict damage on the other. It's a mark of their stamina and resilience that both brutes survive such manhandling. Burns taunts Bernard, "Have I crippled you yet?"
In the end, Bernard and Burns are two sweaty heaps of pain, covered in slap marks, trying to punch, squeeze, yank, and slam more hurt in the other guy. They want victory, to be sure, but they reach a point where pain is its own justification. No prize money or belt could mean more to Bobby than the moment when he makes Bullet scream, "Mommy!" (And that's one moment Bullet would have given up his paycheck if BG East had just agreed to edit it out of the match.) And Bullet's frenzy reaches a point where no amount of money would have talked him out of beating Bobby to near unconsciousness against the turnbuckle. Bad boys that they are, Bullet and Bobby don't stop till one of them is gasping for air in the center of the ring as the victor storms out.
