Screams of Pain, Whimpers of Defeat
Every move is a constant test of strength and a fight for leverage. Tony rolls Cole onto his neck, grapevining his legs and taunting the veteran. "You going somewhere?" he asks, as Cole's hamstrings quiver. Tony is determined to capitalize on his weight advantage, making the smaller man work that much harder from the bottom. But Cole's muscle strength is, pound for pound, possibly the strongest that BG East has ever seen. He neutralizes Tony's weight advantage through sheer, brute force and relentlessness. With more than a twinge of astonishment in his voice, Tony screams out in pain in a body scissors and full nelson. "Guess they didn't tell you who I was," Cole says with a slap to Tony's face. "But you're learning." Tony concedes nothing as he circles for the beginning to the second fall. "You got lucky," he snarls. "I just might get lucky again." Cole says with a smirk.
Every change of momentum in this match is told in a story of inches. Every hard won advantage is instantly contested, with reversal after reversal building suspense. Cole's a ring vet out to prove he's equally lethal on the mats. Tony's metier is the mat. That's where he's always been most at home - and just when things seem to be going Tony's way, Cole knocks the wind out of him with two low blows (it takes two!).
The submissions get nastier as the screams of pain echo off the walls of the gym louder and louder. Both accomplished grapplers give as well as they get. Tony makes Cole repeat a screaming submission three times before releasing him. Cole, in turn, wrangles the big Italian into a back-breaking, screaming, mat-slapping submission before posing on top of the sweaty, beaten hunk, and then leaning back on him like a barca lounger.
This is spectacular mat action: creative, aggressive, muscular, sexy and sweaty. It makes so-called 'nhb' battles look lame, boring, amateurish and repetitious in comparison. As the victor climbs on top and flexes over the loser, he wipes the sweat from his brow and flicks it onto his vanquished opponent. School is out. Lessons learned.
