No Limits: A Charming Villain
It's an old-fashioned word, but "dashing" springs to mind when we look at Dick Rick. Also, "debonair." Whatever happened to great words like these, which belong to an era when men were not trying to be boys, and there was an entire vocabulary surrounding the idea of gentlemanly handsomeness? With his beaming good looks, height, and strong sturdy build, Dick would fit right in either 1930s Hollywood as the star of swashbuckling adventure tales or 1960s NASA as a fearless astronaut and swinging jet-setter.
The only problem is that, despite appearances, Dick Rick doesn't have a gentlemanly bone in his body. You don't rack up a perfect win/loss record by being gentlemanly! Instead, again and again Dick has proved himself a diabolical heel with an uncontainable ego, a smirking sadist, and a cowardly bully ever ready to take the cheap and easy shot against an opponent. Thick muscle combined with a thick skin and top skills = victory!
When Austin Cooper takes advantage of an unguarded moment to pay Dick back for the bevy of insults the self-annointed champ just heaped upon him and lands a solid (SOLID) jab to the champ's gut, all hell breaks loose. And hell is in Dick Rick's comfort zone. He cuts loose on the rookie, slamming knuckles and boots to Cooper's upper body, stripping off the man's white shorts to reveal stars-and-stripes briefs underneath, and then using the boxing shorts as a tourniquet on Austin's throat as he yanks off the boxing gloves.
Austin gets stomped, punched, kneed, elbowed, squeezed, stretched, clawed, rammed, and dropped on his face, while Dick's gentlemanly repose never falters. Wasn't it Oscar Wilde, though, who said, "A true gentleman is one who is never unintentionally rude"? Well, it looks like Gentleman Dick means every bit of his flagrant rudeness here.
