"I Didn't Think You Had It in You"
With new confidence Jake challenges Joah to a gut-punching match and invites Joah to lay in the first fist to his abs. The two trade punches, good-naturedly at first. Then Joah decides to introduce Jake to some serious pain, in a round of intricate holds that ties Jake up like a moth in a spider's web. He delivers particular punishment to the young stud's hamstrings, stretching and twisting against the cartilage, as Jenkins grimaces, the blood drawn from his face. Joah ultimately squeezes two submissions in a row out of Jake with an ease that's clearly starting to piss Jake off. Joah dances around Jake's crumpled body, glistening with sweat. Jake gets up, and the men converge once again, their hearts pounding in their ribs. But Jenkins is not simply a "pretty boy," easily cowered, easily tamed. The kid has fight - and he's a fast study, too, proceeding to wrap his smart-alecky opponent in the same kinds of punishing knots he had so recently endured - and wringing out two submissions in a row to match his own.
Jake pegs Joah for a pure technician and takes advantage of the fact by absorbing and mimicking each new grappling trick. In his mind, his opponent has got a thousand holds, but no fighting spirit. Jake lets his passion, his taste for violence and pain, then, work to his advantage. If Joah can be faulted for anything, perhaps it's that he knows so many holds that he doesn't let any one of them linger for very long - relinquishing each before an opponent is entirely broken and then moving on to the next. Killer holds, but no killer instincts, you might argue. But think about it: the cumulative effect of one brutalizing stretch followed by another, then a joint-popping twist, topped by enormous physical pressure - those massive shoulders! those rock-hard thighs! - working every part of Jenkins' body - may be far more punishing and wearing than a sustained seven-minute camel clutch. And Joah clearly relishes giving Jake's pretty bod a solid pounding, leaving Jake to bawl at one point, "I didn't think you had it in you!"
Joah and Jake are fighting machines, the both of them. One might be too easily dismissed for his fancy moves, the other, for his curly locks and boy-next-door good looks. But the reality here is refreshingly different from everything you might ordinarily expect. This is a bout whose next turn challenges each and every judgment you just made of the last one. In the end, both men hold nothing back, and if Jake's arrogance gets busted in the process, so does Joah's teasing lack of seriousness. The intensity builds as the room heats up, and the two trade blows, slipping against each other's sweat, as the action climaxes in a dramatic torture rack, executed with precision and vigor. Two spectacularly defined and humpy young studs in what is truly a highpoint in the BG East Fantasymen series!
