Lucky approaches the ring, shakes his head and smirks at the sight of Austin, preening his tan muscle and posing like a monument. "Find something funny?" Coop asks, tersely, catching a whiff of the punk's attitude. "Yeah," quips Lucky, grabbing the ropes to pull himself up on the ring apron, "the way you're looking at yourself in that mirror." Coop doesn't miss a beat. "I'm beautiful," he replies, in the matter-of-fact way an ordinary mortal might say, "I'm from Cincinnati." Lucky leaps over the top rope, shaking his long mane, itching to fight. Coop's turn to smirk at his skinny upstart challenger: "You really think you're something, don't you?" The two men lock up, collar and elbow. Then Coop lunges for Loko's thighs, lifts his feet up into the air, and smashes him down to the mat.
A quick and easy start for Cooper. Coop kicks his man aside and another lockup follows. This time Lucky swerves behind Coop and grabs him in a reverse bearhug. His slender arms squeeze Austin's midsection with surprising force. Still, the big man powers loose and turns on his antagonist, smashing his fist into Loko's abs and forcing him to the corner. With a surge of hellfire, Lucky slugs his way out of the corner and gets a firm clutch on Coop's chin. "Come on, give up," Loko crows, full of himself, as he yanks Coop's head back painfully. "Don't waste my time." Again, Coop easily overpowers his slender tormentor and applies a boston crab. Loko won't submit. He thrusts free and flies at Cooper, firing punches designed to fatigue the muscle god and even the playing field.
If Coop is going to beat this crazy-ass kid, he's going to have to stay on his toes. Loko is smart. That's the way he wrestles, too. He points to his head as if to tell the fans out there in TV-land that he's got more smarts than Coop's got dimples. He acts the goof, but it's a ploy, a red herring, designed to lull his opponents into a false sense of security and to put him off his guard. Cooper takes easy command of the long hair neophyte at first - tying him into knots and rocking his slim frame with a series of hard punches - but when Loko spots a window of opportunity, he grabs it. And his method is to wear his man down. As it dawns on the muscle god that the punk's a strategist and a fighter, he starts affording him a modicum of respect and taking the competition seriously. Coop's smart too - as well as brawny - but has he waited too long to recognize Loko for the serious competition he is? A terrific opening match to a rollicking Wrestler Spotlight.
