Fair and Foul
More than once Drew Russell protests, woefully, "It's not fair." Well, life's not fair, big guy, and if you're looking for even a modicum of fairness out of life, the one place you never want to find yourself is in the squared circle at BG East, especially not against the likes of Cole Cassidy. Cassidy has his own brand of justice, and it has nothing to do with fighting fair. Cassidy is especially lethal once he corners his man, lurching in to deliver lightning jabs to the chest and stomach, then rearing back to plant the sole of his boot against the sternum. Blows fall on Drew like the pop-pop-pop of summer firecrackers. And then there's Cassidy's favorite perch of all: with his victim cornered, Cole balances on the middle ropes above him, his bulge hovering over - or unceremoniously mashed into - his opponent's face, as he rains down a flurry of fists and fury with a huge side-helping of humiliation.
Cole specializes in ritualizing acts of humiliation. He dishes out pain with all the careful attention to form and detail we expect of Asian tea ceremonies and British royal coronations. Three times Cole kisses his knuckles before slamming them to Drew's hairy chest for delivery of his infamous and devastating heart punch. He claims that Drew is the first of Cole's opponents to get three of these. And in a spectacular finisher, three times he chokes Drew to the point of unconsciousness, only to slap him awake again at the last second and serve up even more abuse: topping injury with insult. We'd have to feel sorry for Drew if it weren't for the fact that Cole at work on a guy is so much fun to watch.
Now and then, as you might expect, Drew rouses and turns the tables on Cole, and a brain squeeze between those huge Russell quads cannot be very much fun for very long - even for the most ardent devotee of head scissors. And Drew applies the head scissors fore an aft, and for a long, long spell with Cole's nose and lips pressed and smothered into those perfect whites trunks! But other than these prolonged head scissors, Drew's dominations from the driver's seat are sparsely strewn and fleeting. Don't hold your breath for the white rat to swallow the boa constrictor. Still, the moments when Drew gives Cole a taste of his own medicine are sweet, and Cole in agony is a beautiful sight, make no mistake about that, but don't expect to see much of this in Florida Fights 4. But if what you're looking for is a demonstration of the ease with which a virtuoso heel like Cole can annihilate an opponent, you have come to the right place: BG East!
