Sucker Punches and Deathtraps
For a number of us, awesome Austin Cooper is the total package at BG East: golden looks, big muscle, skills in both ring and mat wrestling, a billion-dollar smile, and an ego as big as all outdoors. When he first came to us, he looked like such a classic babyface that it was difficult to imagine him in any other role. Either hanging out at the BGE Compound has had a corrosive effect on his moral character or else heeldom was what he was always destined for, but in the last half-dozen months Coop has blossomed into one of the classiest beatdown artists on our rosters. The man likes to hurt people, physically, punishingly, and, whenever possible, permanently. Under the Brilliantine shine of his sculpted hair, honey-colored tan, and grillwork of blindingly white teeth beats the sadistic heart of a pampered badass. And recently he's added a Ming the Merciless fringe to his always-impressive jaw line. In just over a year, he has met on equal footing the company's most successful wrestlers, standing toe to toe with Patrick Donovan, Z-Man, and Jonny Firestorm, never overshadowed or intimidated and never failing to captivate the fans' imagination.
In his highly anticipated entry to the Undagear series, Austin faces Ben Monaco. Ben's debut against fellow newcomer Alex Arias in Mat Rookies caught a lot of folks' attention, yet hardly registered a blip on Austin's radar. Ben's hairy chest and "hungry lips" took fans and bloggers by storm in a superheated contest that was auspicious for both its new stars. Still, Coop was not alone in being surprised to find out that quiet and unassuming Ben named him as the wrestler he wanted to meet next on the mat. Austin had thought that Ben would set sights first on smaller wrestlers like Eli Black or Jake Jenkins, build his rep on a few wins or close calls before attempting to land a great white shark like himself. Though Ben has a slight height and weight advantage on Austin, Coop touts the thicker, more impressive muscle. And new though he may be, Ben knows a thing or two about how to lay the pain on a body. Predictably, on first meeting, Austin derides and sucker-punches the newcomer, but the surprise (for us and for Coop alike) is how efficiently Ben turns Coop's killer holds into deathtraps for the bad boy.
