False Idols
Chemistry is often used to describe a passionate attraction between two people - two separate agents brought together to create a reaction. But not every chemical reaction is a good one...take Ace Aarons and Bryan Idol, for example. There's chemistry between the two of them, but it's not the good kind.
Ace and Bryan hated each other on site, all those years ago when they first met as rookies in pro training school. This mutual loathing drove both to become better wrestlers - neither wanted to admit the other might be better at anything. This fueled loathing followed from training school and into the indy circuit, fighting each other with a relentless and growing hatred - one winning here, one winning there, back and forth and up and down with neither ever getting a clear or decisive, definitive win over the other. When they joined BGEast, it was inevitable that this showdown would happen. Ace's confidence blazed through the ranks of BGE, while Bryan held back. In the locker room, in the weight room, and everywhere around the various BGEast compounds though, each explained, in florid detail, to other BGEast wrestlers what they intended to do to this particular opponent when the date for their Florida ring fight finally arrived.
"You ready to settle the score at last?" sneers Bryan Idol as he climbs through the ropes, contempt plain on his face as he tosses his luscious locks out of his face. "The score will be settled," Ace replies with a matching sneer, and the two lock up in the center of the ring. The two proceed to put on a fierce, impressive display of technical wrestling skill, one getting an advantage only to be reversed out by his opposite - and you can almost see a smidgin of grudging respect for their hated foes begin dawning on both their faces as the struggle goes on longer than either had expected.
Chokes, slams, wristlocks, head locks, hip tosses - the ring shakes as each body slams down onto it again with great force, cries of frustrated agony growing louder as the bodies get sweatier, as muscles grow fatigued, as joints get stretched and bent and twisted beyond imagination. And every time it appears the match is done - there's no way he can bounce back from that, is there? - the energy and desire to not be beaten rises within and there's a kickout before the three count! A choke has Ace going down, eyes glassy, with Idol poised to pose in triumph over his unconscious foe...only for Ace to dig down deep inside and power his way up and out of the hold, reversing and taking charge of Bryan yet again.
The once-technical prowess displayed early on in the match fades into cheap shots and low blows as each wrestler struggles to put his foe away at long last, to settle the score once and for all between two men whose dislike for each other takes precedence over anything, everything, else in the ring.
Neither wants to give into the other, neither wants to have that bitter loss hanging over their head, and so on they fight, momentum switching from wrestler to wrestler and back again, as their bodies continue to twist and contort and stretch, the sweat soaking their trunks, the slap of wet skin against wet skin, both refusing to surrender, to listen to their aching bodies and their burning muscles and their gasping lungs and just finally give up to the other. And just when it looks like it's all over and done, one final reversal gives one stud the sweaty, well-deserved win...and he stalks out of the ring, flexing his muscles in masculine pride, while his beaten foe's mind swims up out of the fog of sleep, not sure what has happened, not sure if he has won or lost, asking over and over, confusion written on his face, "did I win?" Maybe not, but the real winner here is the viewer of this out and out pro marathon!
