In the course of his impressive run at BG East, Kid Karisma has taken turns as both hunk and basher in hot contests in the ring and on the mats against the likes of Jonny Firestorm, Cage Thunder, Rio Garza, and, most recently in a muscle thriller versus the Z-Man. In short, he has faced the wrath of some of our most infamous heels and helped tap down the egos of some of our prettiest and sexiest babyfaces.
In Hunkbash 12, Karisma returns to put newcomer Jake Jenkins to the acid test. There is no back-story here - no grudge to avenge, no title to win, no clear motive at all. And who needs one? Pure vigor and natural combativeness launch Kid's attack on Jake, and the sheer joy of aggression and struggle feeds and fuels the drama from beginning to end. The action requires no other explanation than that it's a hunkbash we're watching, goddamnit. And this bout is about as pure and streamlined as wrestling action gets.
The fiery egotism Karisma exhibits in every match is in full force here and it has seldom been as entertaining or sexy. Between shots, both physical and verbal, to Jenkins' person and self-esteem, Kid K takes time to show off his brick-wall physique - biceps like cast-iron cannonballs and a torso that tapers from broad, brawny shoulders to a waistline that has never seen a love handle, to that phenomenal derriere about which odes have been composed, to those thick, powerfully punishing head-and-rib-crushing quads.
And when Kid K slams that rock-solid, perfectly round butt down into Jake's lower back for a full boston crab or camel clutch ride, you can bet the rookie feels it - and probably will still feel it weeks from now. Karisma has never been in better shape physically, nor better skilled - and his alertness, banter and bounce fuel the fight, one of his (and our) best yet. And young Jake Jenkins has proven beyond a doubt that the excitement and hype surrounding his BG East debut is not just deserved but well-earned. This kid has got it all.
