The Boss told his #1 protege that a match with Z-Man was all Jonny needed to get back in fighting shape. Jonny didn't expect the "pretty boy" to come on as quite so aggressively. But The Boss knows best! The combination of Zack's fighting spirit and flawless body was exactly the jolt Jonny needed to get his mojo back. Mix jealousy, resentment, and the instinct for self-preservation, and you've made yourself a fiery Firestorm Molotov cocktail. What better snack to give the perfect heel than the perfect babyface.
Patiently, cunningly, Jonny awaits an opportunity to turn the match to his advantage. He gets it when Zack holds him up on his shoulders for a half-second too long before slamming him to the mat. It's a fateful delay for Z. Jonny wriggles free and brilliantly dropkicks the hunk, boots to the chin and chest. Wasting no time, Jonny launches himself into Z-Man and pummels the man's legendary abs with his heavy fists. For the rest of the match Z's "pretty abs" absorb much of Jonny's attention and abuse, along with, systematically, every other part of the male model's physique which at the outset of the match, Jonny had insincerely flattered: legs, arms, and chest. The question is whether Z-Man can survive a recharged and unleashed Firestorm, much less retaliate.
Jonny gets a legit three-count pin on Z-Man, thus wrapping up the initial fall. But Jonny has always cared less about racking up wins than in wrecking bodies. He asks a bewildered Z what he expected, stepping into the ring against a notorious heel. Could he really have expected to walk away unscathed? Jonny doesn't just enjoy hurting other wrestlers. He takes artistic pride in the ingenuity and attention to detail with which he ratchets up the agony. And besides, he has a very exacting and critical Boss to impress and please!
Jonny's incredible variations on standard wrestling holds are the heart of his craftsmanship as a heel and the cause for his immense notoriety - and popularity.
